1. Who we are and what this policy covers
CASIT (Chaldeans, Assyrians & Syriacs in Technology) is operated by CASIT Network, a Texas nonprofit corporation, doing business as CASIT. In this policy, “CASIT,” “we” and “us” mean that corporation. CASIT is the controller of the personal information described in this policy and is responsible for it.
- Privacy contact: info@casitnetwork.org
This policy covers information collected through this website and its forms. It does not cover websites or services run by others that the site links to, such as the websites of listed companies (section 13).

3. Information collected automatically
- Hosting and delivery. When you visit the site, our hosting provider processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, in order to deliver and secure the site. This information is kept by the provider for a limited time for security and operational purposes.
- No analytics or tracking. CASIT does not use analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or session recording.
- Cookies and browser storage. The site’s own code does not set cookies or use browser storage. Fonts and icons are served from this site, and the site does not embed videos, maps or social media widgets. Because there are no non-essential cookies, the site does not show a cookie banner.
4. Information we receive from others
CASIT does not buy information or receive it from data brokers. Sometimes another person gives us information about you, for example when someone submits a company you work for, names you as a contact, or suggests you as a speaker. We use that information only for the purpose it was submitted for.
5. How we use information
- To review applications and submissions against the published criteria.
- To contact you about your submission, membership or a program you asked about.
- To arrange introductions you asked for, such as mentorship or business assistance.
- To consider people who offer to volunteer for roles that match CASIT’s needs.
- To run CASIT programs, events and the company directory.
- To send optional email updates, but only if you ticked the email-updates box (section 9).
- To protect the site and CASIT’s members from spam, abuse and security threats.
- To keep records of consent (the Terms version you agreed to) and to meet legal obligations.
CASIT does not use your information for targeted advertising and does not make automated decisions about you.
6. Who receives information
CASIT does not sell personal information, and does not share it for anyone else’s advertising. We share it only as follows:
| Recipient | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Our hosting and form-processing provider | Every form submission, and the technical information described in section 3 | To host the site and store form submissions |
| An automated spam-filtering service | Form submission content | To screen submissions for spam |
| CASIT’s authorized organizers | Submissions to the forms they are responsible for | To review and respond to them. Access is limited to the people who need it for their role |
| Volunteers, mentors or advisors | Only what’s needed to make an introduction you asked for, such as your name, email and the relevant parts of your request | To make the introduction. We will tell you before sharing |
| Sponsors and partners | Nothing that identifies you, unless you give permission | CASIT does not give member contact details to sponsors without the member’s permission |
| The public | Approved directory listing fields only (section 2) | To publish the directory |
| Authorities or others when legally required | Only what the law requires | To comply with law, respond to valid legal process, or protect people’s safety or rights |
| A successor or affiliated entity | CASIT’s records | If CASIT’s operations or a program move to a successor or affiliated entity, the records needed for it move with them under this policy |
7. Where information is processed
CASIT is operated from the United States, and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. CASIT’s programs are directed to people in the United States.
8. How long we keep information
CASIT keeps information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for, and then deletes it. The periods below are CASIT’s standard retention periods; CASIT may keep information longer where the law requires it or where it is needed to resolve a dispute.
| Information | Retention period |
|---|---|
| Membership applications (accepted) | While the person is a member, then deleted within 90 days after they leave or ask to be removed |
| Membership applications (not accepted) | 12 months after the decision |
| Mentorship, business assistance and founder-interest requests | 24 months after the last activity on the request |
| Company submissions | For approved listings, while the listing is live plus 90 days. For declined submissions, 12 months after the decision |
| Volunteer-interest submissions | 24 months after the last contact, or while the person is an active volunteer |
| Partnership and speaker-interest submissions | 24 months after the last contact |
| Topic suggestions | 12 months |
| Contact messages, including privacy requests | 24 months, so that requests can be shown to have been handled |
| Spam submissions | Deleted at each review |
| Exports (CSV files) | Deleted once the task they were made for is finished |
How deletion works. Submissions are permanently deleted from the form system by an authorized organizer. Any exported copies and email copies are deleted at the same time.
9. Emails from CASIT
- Messages about your submission (for example, a reply to your question or a follow-up about your application) are sent only in response to something you submitted.
- Optional email updates (newsletters or announcements) are sent only to people who ticked the email-updates box. CASIT does not send email updates yet. Before any are sent, CASIT will add a working unsubscribe link and a valid postal address to every message, as U.S. law (the CAN-SPAM Act) requires for commercial email.
- You can stop optional emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link, once one exists, or by writing to info@casitnetwork.org. Unticking or never ticking the box does not affect your membership.
10. Your choices and requests
You can ask CASIT to:
- tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy,
- correct information that is wrong,
- delete your information,
- remove a directory listing you are authorized to manage, or
- stop sending you optional emails.
How to ask: email info@casitnetwork.org or use the contact form and choose “Privacy or data request.” Tell us which forms you used and the email address you used on them.
Verifying your identity. To protect your information, we may ask you to confirm the request from the email address on your submission, or ask for other reasonable details. We will not ask for government ID.
What to expect. CASIT will handle requests within a reasonable time. Some laws give residents of certain states specific privacy rights and response deadlines. Whether those laws apply to CASIT has not been determined (section 11). Until it is, CASIT offers the choices in this section voluntarily to everyone, regardless of where they live. Where a law gives you rights that apply to CASIT, you can use them in the same way. We may keep a minimal record that a request was handled, without the deleted information.
11. State privacy laws
Several U.S. states, including California and Texas, have consumer privacy laws. Whether any of them applies to CASIT depends on facts such as its size and activities, which are still developing. This policy does not claim that any of those laws applies to CASIT, or that CASIT is exempt from them.
12. Age requirement and children
CASIT’s programs and the forms that ask you to confirm your age are for people 18 or older. The site is not directed to children, and CASIT does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a person under 18 has submitted information, we will delete it, except for a minimal record if one is needed to prevent them from being added again. If you believe a minor has submitted information, please write to info@casitnetwork.org.
13. Links to other websites
The site links to websites CASIT does not control, including the websites of companies in the directory and, in the future, platforms used for webinars and events. Their privacy practices are their own. Links that open in a new tab are set so that your browser does not tell the other website which CASIT page you came from.
14. How we protect information
What CASIT does now:
- The site is served only over encrypted connections.
- Form submissions are stored behind access controls, and access is limited to the people who need it.
- Submissions are screened for spam.
- Forms collect only the information listed in section 2.
Accounts with access to submissions are protected with multi-factor authentication, and information is deleted under the retention schedule in section 8.
No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, and CASIT cannot guarantee the security of information.
15. If something goes wrong
If CASIT learns of a security incident affecting personal information, it will act to contain it, assess what information and people were affected, seek legal advice, and notify affected people and authorities where the law requires.
16. Changes to this policy
CASIT may update this policy. Each version has a version number and a “last updated” date, and earlier versions are kept on record. For material changes, CASIT will post a notice on the site in advance and, where you gave CASIT your email address and the change requires it, let you know by email. A change applies only going forward, not to information collected under an earlier version, unless you agree.
17. Contact
Privacy questions and requests: info@casitnetwork.org, or the contact form.
